We invest in the health, voice and opportunity of women and young people — building healthier bodies, healthier minds, and healthier communities across Sierra Leone.
Mariyam's Ways Foundation (MWF) is a sustainable development organisation committed to promoting holistic wellness and empowerment among young people, especially girls and women. We are rooted in the belief that true empowerment begins with knowledge, confidence, and health.
Through programmes focused on creating enabling environments, promoting women's health, providing mental health support, offering fitness and lifestyle education, and engaging youth, we aim to break stigmas, build capacity, and inspire lasting change in communities.
To inspire and provide young people, especially girls, with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to lead healthy lives, make informed choices, and become agents of change.
A society where every young person, especially girls, is informed, empowered, and supported to lead a healthy, confident, and impactful life.
We're a can-do organisation that strives for excellence in every programme we deliver.
We keep a strong people focus, with mutual respect for everyone we work with and serve.
"Moving women and youth from survival to significance — from being recipients of help to becoming agents of change."
The MWF Philosophy
Founder & CEO · Media Personality · Humanitarian
At just 15 years old, Mariyam Lorba Konneh co-founded The Mariyam's Ways Foundation — turning her own experience growing up in Sierra Leone into a platform for change. Now a Banking & Finance student at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), she leads MWF alongside her business, Mariyam's Ways Limited (MWL), and is a member of the Commonwealth Business Women's Network (CBWN), Sierra Leone.
Beyond MWF, Mariyam is a media personality — presenting on AYV MultiChoice DStv — and a committed environmental advocate who leads regular beach clean-ups across her community. She also serves as a goodwill ambassador for a surf-therapy mental wellness programme run through the United Sierra Leone Wave Alliance, work that has been featured in international research publications.
Our flagship programme — Igniting Change through Healthy Body, Healthy Mind & Healthy Community. We believe whatever affects our body may also affect our mind and community, and vice versa.
Menstrual health, hygiene, and fitness — so girls and women can grow up healthy and reach their full potential.
Coping skills and wellness support that help young people manage stress, build confidence, and heal.
Safe spaces and youth engagement that turn community members into agents of change.

By creating this platform, you aren't just teaching skills — you're opening doors, building confidence, and completely transforming the lives of Sierra Leonean women and girls.
You always went the extra mile for us. I remember you telling us, "I don't want your money — all I want is for you to learn, ask questions, and go out there and make me proud."
Through Mariyam's Ways Foundation, we have been able to reach thousands of women and youth in the last three years, partnered with schools and communities.
